Route info:

The Hammer Climb course starts at Madlaveien just outside of the Stavanger Forum Expo area. From here, the riders will go in a counter-clock wise direction.

The first section of the course is on wide roads, taking the riders past DNB Arena towards Madlakrossen with a left turn onto Madlamarkveien. From here, the teams ride through the Madlamark residential area with its beautiful view over Hafrsfjord. On this part of false flat, the riders will already need to start fighting for positions before they get to the narrow sections of the course. On their left, it will be possible to catch a short glimpse of the historic grounds of Jernaldergården before the descent starts as the riders pass through the Stavanger University area. This section has a short stretch of city paves before entering iPark Business Park.

Upon entering the Sørmarka recreational area, the roads will narrow significantly. This is another part of false flat, which ends with a 90° left-hand-turn as the riders enter the finish area. This decisive part of the course starts out with a sleek climb before it’s time for the Grisabakken wall and its staggering maximum gradient of 20 %.

After the first passing of the finish line, the course flattens a bit. However, there is still some climbing left to do before reaching the highest point at Ullandhaug. From here on, the peloton will be back on wide roads again as they take on a fast descent down to Brustadbua. Afterwards, the riders will get a chance to get in to position as they head back towards Tjensvollkrysset and the start area.

In total, the riders will do nine full laps after the first passing of the finish line.

Route info:

The Hammer Sprint starts at Madlaveien, the same location as for the Hammer Climb but with the riders going in the opposite direction.

The peloton will head towards Stavanger city center and after crossing Tjensvollkrysset with its famous lifted cycling path, they will pass Mosvannet on their right. This section is slightly downhill, which will result in a high pace as the riders reach Motorveien and continue through Kannik past the theatre.

Just outside of Bergelandstunellen the course makes a left turn entering Bergelandsgata, passing Stavanger Tinghus before going onto Pedersgata with its multicultural shops and restaurants. The course continues on Havneringen to pass the Oil Museum where the riders will ride on the quayside for a short while.

Upon getting back on the main street, the peloton will pass Tollboden and Hotel Viktoria before entering the finish area at Skansekaien to meet the cheering crowds.

After crossing the finish line and passing Torget, a short climb will take the riders onto Eiganesveien and then back to Madlaveien. From here, the course heads straight back to Madlakrossen making a 180° turn back to the start.

Route info:

The first part of the Hammer Chase course is the same one as for the Hammer Sprint. After passing the theater, the teams will make a right turn onto Lagårdsveien where both the police and fire stations are located. As they continue towards Hillevåg, the riders will enter the centralized bus lane with a 2.5 km section straight-out all the way south to Hinnasvingene.

After passing Hinna Park and the SR-Stadium, home of Viking FK, the course makes a sharp right-hand-turn onto Diagonalen. Now heading north, the riders will soon meet Hafrsfjord, the location for the famous battle of Hafrsfjord where Norway was unified as one kingdom back in the days. This is now symbolized with the iconic Swords in Rock monument.

As they go back towards the finish area at Stavanger Forum, the team will have to watch out for multiple roundabouts before entering the final stretch on Madlaveien.

In total, the teams will do three laps on the course.
