Hammer Series remains paused for 2021

The Hammer Series will remain on hold in 2021 with a view to the high-impact races returning in 2022.

Despite the success of the events in the Netherlands, Norway and Hong Kong between 2017 and 2019 and their high online and broadcast viewing figures, the races and series have been put on hold with Race Organisers due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UCI’s refusal to recognise the Hammer Series as a “series” means that Velon is currently prevented from organising the races as a Series according to the UCI’s Management Committee. This matter is subject to a complaint made by Velon to the EU Commission.

However, it is hoped that the Hammer Series will return in 2022 and Velon looks forward to working with partners in Limburg, Stavanger, Hong Kong and more locations around the world.

Although the pros will not be racing in Hammer Limburg in 2021, 150 riders are expected to take part in the Hammer Youth/Omloop van de Maasvallei on Saturday the 5th and Sunday 6th of June, starting in Stein and finishing at the Tom Dumoulin Bike Park in Sittard.
